Nessa, Ashley, Hazel and the rest of their group was sent into the maze a year before the first gladers were. While living in the maze they were forgotten. The girls made their settlement on the tops of the maze. When Thomas and Minho run into two of the girls they are taken prisoner for crimes they do not know they committed. When the two group's fate's get twisted they must learn to work together to find their way out of the maze.
