A nameless, voiceless boy. A mysterious woman with stormy eyes. A disturbing vending machine that sells only one type of chocolate bar: a "Nereus" bar.

Everyone has tales of the local mermaid, a doomed young woman who left the sea and can never return. And the boy has heard all of them a thousand times. Perhaps he identifies with her, for he, too, is lost in this ageless town. One day, in a fit of desperation, he prays on a chocolate bar for something to change, because he feels as though he is drowning. That night, he meets the woman who will change the course of his life forever.

The Nereid and the Seachild is a fairy tale retelling of The Little Mermaid that pulls from Greek Mythology as much as it does the original story.
