Life has never seemed more serene than as I lay dying. Blood coats the forest floor beneath me, connecting with the foilage-covered soil in a parade of musty, copper smells. Through the rain drops that fall on me from the treetops, I can feel the icy breath of a dawning winter. It will be cold this year. It's a shame Ill never see it- I love the cold. Most cold. This cold that envelopes me now is hostile and uninviting, almost empty. They say that when you're faced with death, your life flashes before your eyes. The same could not be said for me. My hand moved on its own and I touched his chest, my fingers skimming over where his heart pounded in time with mine. Heart Then my fingers glided to his neck. Word and then to his temple Thought and finally, down his chin through the spikes of his facial hair. All the while, our eyes connected. His cobalt color started shifting and gold pierced through. My breath left me in an audible long sound, clearing my lungs. It was at that that my head tilted slightly, and I bent my chin to my shoulder, my hand again doing what it wanted and pulling the collar away from my neck. I love to mess around with plot generators, and recently I've found one that gives me a full short story too. I, of course, started to mess around with these and found them to be quite fun. This is a world where power and dominance stand above anything and everything else. This is a world where you don't want to run around in the dark. This is a world where love is nothing other than a meaningless word used to describe the indescribable feeling of having a Mate. This is a world where wolves are dominant and only the most powerful survive. This is the world Silas, a loner and the first full blooded wolf in history, was born into. The world where she must prove her dominance in order to survive. * * * Unbearable pain erupted through my body, almost instantly. Dizziness made the room swirl unnaturally and darkness threatened to take over. "Up," the Alpha repeated. I tried, but, once again, I was rendered immobile. Another large syringe full of the green and silver mixture was injected into my body. This process repeated, time and time again. My body could not handle it. The room spun in quick, repeating circles as darkness surged, covering everything I saw and felt with a thick, black blanket. I couldn't remember anything. Not who I was. Not where I was. Not who was with me. Not what I was supposed to be doing. But, as I lay there, unconscious, beginning to go insane with pain, I could still hear, still remember, him. I could remember the voice of someone I had met, not that long ago, that already meant the world to me. I could remember the feeling of our wolves connecting, all but the new fifth member of my body, who had led me to this dark, dangerous place. I could remember feeling, for the first time in years, what it felt like to be happy. I could remember his name. My breath hitched when he leaned down to whisper in my ear, "your eyes are beautiful." I couldn't understand what I was feeling, like butterflies in my stomach. I felt all happy and giggly inside, it was scaring me. I wasn't suppose to feel this way, I wasn't suppose to feel anything at all. "You look adorable when you blush," he whispered huskily, causing a shiver to run down my spine. He had such a strong effect on me and I didn't like it one bit. He smelled good though, like cinnamon and forest. His nose brushed against my cheek sending shocks. I pushed him away, and suddenly felt cold. Ayn's Healing
Ayn is a witch with healing powers. Shapeshifters have killed her parents and the only animals she cannot speak with are wolves. When she graduates from the Teaching Clan and finds out that she has to cross the River and live in the Wolves' Mountains for one year, she is less than amused. Kari, first-born shapeshifter Alpha, almost lost his wolf after the death of his mate. He could rise again and become the pack leader if only he would complete his training ...and find another suitable Luna. When he realizes that his second chance is his mother's guest, a daydreaming stubborn witch from across the River, he is less than amused. The bond may be a strong force, but can a witch walk the Wolves' Way and face the dangers it is paved with? **** "I need to stop..." I sigh, catching her wrist before her fingers reach the back of my neck, and I untangle her arm from me. She lingers on the recliner but now there is a big gap between our bodies. The warmth she left on my skin is quickly dissipating in the spring night. "Fine." Ayn stands and searches my eyes. Her scowl has my wolf whimper in submission and makes me curse my self-imposed hard line. "I am going to need your hoodie," she orders, stretching her hand out to me. "What?" I exclaim, briefly shocked by both the tone and the content of her words. My hands however are already executing her command, unzipping my jacket. "The last time I was able to sleep, I was covered with your hoodie. Your scent is comforting." She states it plainly as if it would be an obvious and broadly known fact. Like the Earth being round.
