Constance thought she could finally stop looking over her shoulder. She has a steady job as a hairstylist, rents a small apartment next door to her best friend, and keeps a routine that distracts her just enough to not have to dwell on her past.

All seems right in her world until a homeless man who's on the FBI's Most Wanted list comes barreling through the salon, effectively ripping apart all the hard work she put into her life.

Now she is forced to live as a fugitive from the law alongside the infuriating man who might just be the one to drag the skeletons out of her closet. Between her unresolved past and his unsure future, Constance works to clear his name so she can go back to living inconspicuously before the FBI catches them, or worse before the Mafia catches her.

Luca didn't want to get attached. He had learned the hard way that people are innately bad and nobody really cares about you; his situation is a prime example of that. However, when a bossy woman shows kindness for no other reason than she wants to, he can't help but return to her house to save her from the goons following his trail and suddenly finds himself responsible for a woman with a past as mysterious as his future.

With his new traveling companion having the appetite of a bear and an inability to be quiet, he soon learns that Constance is hard to keep at arm's length.
