First, all I saw of him was his back and hair. Nothing about him at that point made a stand out, but I still walked over and sat on the bar stool beside him. I turned my head to look at the man, and instantly recognized him, but I noticed his eyes most of all. Blood-shot and glassed over. My eyes then next traveled down to his hands, playing with something on the bar top. The ring he held in his hand shined and glimmered in the light.
I asked him the first thing that came to mind.
“Kalel?”
He just shook his head, and slipped the wedding ring into his pocket.
