This is a creative nonfiction essay I was assigned to write in my Intro to Creative Writing class. It talks about the racial prejudices that Native Americans went through, and how the book To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee (who I knew and who lived in my hometown) is helping to heal that divisiveness.
