What could happen when 200 kids, ages 11-17, are invited to a band conference in Washington DC? After a week of befriending each other, they discover that they're all going to be competing against one another in a country wide band competition. What could possibly go wrong? A lot of things, especially considering that the very competitive Veria Smith and Hazel Comolop basically insist upon going head to head with a very heated rivalry. So grab your instrument and sheet music, hope you're ready for the show of your life!

~some things you just can't speak about.~ // hazel eloise finley's old english and frankly quite pretentious name was never released to public whenever she survived the shooting at her high school. not even after the paramedics took her away with a severe bullet wound to the calf or even whenever she drug and hopped herself outside for medical attention afterwards either. only known as the jane doe that survived a school shooting, and the years of physical therapy, permanent nerve damage and chronic pain proved to be the least of her worries. it took years of therapy, hospitalizations, and prescriptions for her to even feel ready to start college after high school. and whenever she did, much like her name, she was determined to bury it. despite the trauma she went on to become one of the most gifted music majors enrolled at the prestigious university in Nashville, TN, an honors student, a residential advisor, and slowly making her way to the student council someday. Though just coming into her sophomore year, a heavily tattooed literature major transfers into the room across from hers that throws everything off track. He took a step closer, the smirk not leaving his face as he could sense my irritation. "I've been looking forward to this for far too long," he laughed, licking his lips. "And for once, I'm gonna be the one knocking the smug smile off of your face." My scowl deepened, confused as to what he was talking about. He took another step forward, standing close enough for me to get a whiff of his minty breath and aftershave. He leaned in towards my ear, speaking loud enough for only me to hear, "We'll settle this with the battle of the bands," *** [Completed] Kylie Thompson had it all; she had the perfect family, a handsome boyfriend, good grades, and she was apart of one of the best marching bands in the state. Within a year, that all changed. Her parents filed for divorce, her boyfriend broke up with her, her grades began to slip, and her band director passed away from kidney failure. Now Kylie has to deal with four new issues; her parent's immature fights, avoiding her ex, improving her grades, and keeping the band from falling apart. All of this, and putting up with a guy in the rival band that is so cocky yet so cute.
