"A GIRL???!!!!"

Jonah - "Dude, how? Like a girl never ranks! Not in bid! Not in high draft! Never! Like usually girls become Guardians and then recruit other girls as Disciples for the sake of...well, looking out for each other I guess. And who is Galiera Morte anyways? Have you heard about her?"

Zack - "No, I haven't. She must have trained and registered secretly. Maybe she chose not to have herself known as a potential candidate unless drafted. It says she's 15! Why haven't we heard about her until now though? Look at her stats man!"

Jonah - "I see man!!! She has an affinity ability and is a marksman with the bow and rifle! She has also mastered multiple martial arts and has a ton of research points! Dude she is like super legit!"

Zack - "Yes she is. I don't know man, this is a first. Something about her has to be special to not only be chosen as a Disciple but to be bidded 1st in her class..."

In a galaxy, founded by fallible humans, where children are molded to be career-minded, and young adults are trained to be watchers of these children, anything can happen.

"Guardian and Disciple. We strive. We stay alive. We survive. With Nature's grace and Zion as our guide."

The question is, will everyone see life that way and will they live according to this system? Is this system perfect? Who created it? And why do Guardians have Disciples?

 CAN THE SYSTEM BE TRUSTED?

Not everything that looks good, is. And not every system that seems to be working, does. Not every fact is truth and not all things of value worth the price.

I am not from this planet. Hell, I am technically not from this galaxy. However, that doesn't change the fact I am here now, and my job is to save what I can on this forsaken planet and what's left of its inhabitants. The problem is that not everyone wants to be saved. I know what you're thinking. You can't save those who don't want to be saved. I bloody well agree. The ones who sent me don't care what you or I think, though. All they care about is numbers. They need a certain success rate to continue to get funding for their "expeditions" and "peacekeeping" efforts. I use both terms loosely here. However, that's what they put on their records, and it's what sounds good and looks suitable to their investors. So this is the way it's going to be. So be it! Oh, did I forget to mention the Universe decided I was the lucky girl to help find the one person who could save us all from self-destruction? Yea, that is a shitty idea, but once again, no one cares what I think.

I was slowly losing consciousness, but my mind never seemed happier now that I was dying. The white walls with big bright lights did not resemble heaven; in fact, it was quite the opposite. I thought I had died. When I came to, I found myself in this strange place, disoriented and confused. I looked around and found another five pairs of eyes looking at me with the same emotion swirling in their gaze. Now, 15 years later, I train with these girls. Our makers take care of us, feed us, and make sure we are clean, healthy, and fit. Some of us never had that; that's probably why it took so long for us to realize we were being used. The dirty work they made us do, none of us questioned it. How could we when we were taken off the streets? For a chance at normalcy, we settled for anything, even if that meant blurring the lines of right and wrong. Before the fall of Earth humanity built a great colony ship, ten thousand of the colonist left Earth for a hundred year journey to Gillespie. They came from all over the Earth leaving a planet knowing they would never see another in their lifetime. The Ark is a rotating cylinder the size of a large island with its own train system. It's divided into three main sections, the city, the framlands, and the Lowers. The people are divided into three groups as well, Uppers, Middles and Lowers. Uppers are made of elite scientist, Astro-crops, bureaucrats they made up about 3% of the population. The Middles are are the farmers, the guard, teachers, doctors, the food processors, clothes makers and of course the mechanical maintenance workers. They make-up the 97% of the 10,000 counted citizens. The lowers are criminals and children born to un-paired parents. They live separated from the middles and Upper. In lowers you work in water reclamation or in one of the fish farms that supply protein to the ship. In the year 2149 Dylan De Rovia is trying to wrap her head around the idea that in two year's she'll be paired. That they call marriage on the Ark. Pairing is good most who are paired do end-up staying together because while genetics play good part in determining a match so does personality. Some people choose to use spend this time having a good time with as many partners as possible. Dylan however, vowed that she would never fall in love with anyone before pairing. The universe had other plans however, when Dylan learns that she'll pair with an Upper named Kyive Sinclar life gets more complicated than ever. Falling in love is hard enough falling in love in space that the story.
