His father gave him no other alternative. They were moving to Berk, and that was that. After moving 9 times over the last 11 years Hiccup wasn't surprised when his father said they were planting roots. He only had two years of high school left, but even after he graduated, he didn't think he could bring himself to leave his father.
After years of being victimized at each school he attended, Hiccup was determined to keep a low profile at Berk High. Too bad the gods weren't in the mood to grant his wishes. Instead, he discovered what his father truly did those long stretch of years, and to tip the icing off the cake, he finds he has a gift that had been nonexistent for centuries. Brought back, because the dragons had returned.
Hiccup Haddock III was the only one who could save the dragons from being driven to extinction for a second time. At the sake of his own life, he consents to his father's wishes, and embraces the gift that had singled him out on the Isle of Berk.

#1 hiccupxreader Warning: LEMON, also, following this story will put you in major FEELS! I didn't change Hiccup or Toothless's personally btw:) summary- You knew Hiccup since you were children. You were the next ruler in line for your Island and hiccup was next chief in line for Berk. You'd fly your dragon from your island to Berk and meet in secret with Hiccup everyday deep in the woods. You were best friends. You'd tell each other everything. Throughout your teenage years, you were an inseparable couple. Everything was magical, until one day when you were being forced to marry a selfish man who everyone thought had the power to end a war. You loved only Hiccup, a man who no body on your island knew, or would ever approve of. Your strict parents would never let you marry a Viking. So you disappeared into a new far away place with your dragon, and you were never seen again. Hiccup and (y/n), an unbreakable bond. What happens when you are reunited with Hiccup and he is the only person that you want? Is it possible to make everything go back to normal, after you abandoned everything you knew? Was the new world where you truly belong? Or is it in Hiccups arms? I guess we'll just have to wait and see... -rude language, brief sexual content, gore descriptions- (Hiccup and Astrid are not dating in this story, but the whole gang are very good friends) Also, most of the artwork in this book isn't mine, notify me if you have credit/ it's yours. "This is Berk. We have fishing, hunting, and charming views of sunsets. The only real problems we have are our enemies; Dragons. They plague the Archipelago like the Scourge of Odin. They took away many of our fellow Viking, including my childhood friend: Hiccup, who was too kind to be taken by anything with a conscience. The other problem that seems more relevant at the moment are the Outcasts. Vikings banished to Outcast Island for their crimes. Their leader - Alvin the Treacherous - wishing for nothing more than Berks destruction. They're a reckless and gullible lot who seem convinced that the fairy tale of the Dragon Master is real. I better keep my guard up if I want to get out of here." - Astrid Hofferson. (common sense would tell you, but I'll say it anyway: I don't own HTTYD. Just this story)
