Even before Princess Amaryllis is forced into a shady marriage deal with the dangerous Captain Darius, life as she knows it is being ripped away. The castle is in disarray. Her brother is determined to ruin her life. Even her mother, her only hope for the future, is slipping far out of her reach. The disposable princess doesn't have many options when Captain Darius appears like a white knight in blood stained armor. Now she has to watch this man, her husband, dally with death and adapt as he pulls her right into the fray, putting a target on her back almost as large as his own. She's not a fighter, a murderer, or a strategist. But she'll do what she has to do.

Kassan Lastlight was never meant to be a hero. Just a prince with a sharp tongue, a charming smile, and the weight of a kingdom on his shoulders. But when whispers of a cursed ship and a lost crew lead him beyond the shores of Valemire, Kassan and his lifelong friend Micah set out on a journey to do what even kings could not: break the curse and bring their families home. The path takes them across deadly seas, forgotten islands, ancient gods, and a mountain that pulses with the heartbeat of something divine. Along the way, Kassan meets Freya, the fierce and guarded Princess of the South and their fates intertwine in ways neither could have foreseen. But every triumph comes with a cost, and not all who set out on the journey return. This is a story of gods and monsters, of cursed blood and golden spears, but at its heart, it's the story of a boy who crossed the world to bring his father home, and of the woman he would cross it again for.
