Everyone here is born with a clock on each wrist. Each counts down to something. The one on the left wrist counts down to when you meet your soulmate. The one on your right is kept covered for your own protection. People have gone mad by looking at it.

Lucy, one of my best friends, just met her soulmate. Ugh. Look at them, all young and in love. I bet he doesn't even know her name. Soulmates. Love. Crap, all of it, I say. My Left Clock never did work properly. Always changing. Always at a diffrent time. Not because it was going down, either. It goes up and down and all around. I reckon I don't have a soulmate. Yesterday my Left Clock said I had one second until I met my soulmate the whole day! I doubt the Clocks really count down to what they say they do. Honestly, whoever heard of being told when you'll meet your soulmate and when you'll ... die?

My name is Tameria Parker. I managed to escape the hell we call a paradise. Now I am the leader of a rebellion, sought to take it down. The Right Clock counts down to your death.. I was born without one.
