Soon-to-be King of Ireylies, a kingdom said to be magical, Alixander Romatov is set to marry the girl of his dreams, Beatrice. She's a pale beauty who many men fawn over while he's a muscled and dashing prince who the girls swoon for. Their happily ever after gets upended when Alixander's father, King Richard, tells him he's to marry another. When Alix refuses, King Richard threatens to take the crown from him. After the conversation is had, she is ordered to pack her things and leave in just three days time.

Unlike his previous maiden, Annalise is the opposite of the beauty that he was due to marry. With dark skin and on the chubby side, he can't help but be aggravated with her presence.

Once in the Palace, Alixander is quick to give Annalise a chance.

Just as Annalise settles in, however, an angry mob arrives outside the palace, hell-bent on killing Alixander's entire family. They're convinced he and his family are monsters, having no choice but to kill.

Having no other choice, she and Alixander flee, finding refuge with his ex guard and best friend, Rique, on his ship. Little do they know, the crewmates on board are anything but kind. Especially not to mythical beings.
