[ COMPLETED] Excerpt: Come in." I said pulling him into my office. "I'm actually glad you came. I was going to call you and tell you that, even though I thought the gestures were really nice. It has to stop."

"Go out with me tonight." He said taking a step closer to me, ignoring what I'd just said.

I could feel his breath on my skin and I didn't know if I would be able to keep my hands to myself. "Did you hear what I just said?" I asked in barely a whisper, taking another step back.

"Yeah." He said nodding his head. "Go out with me...tonight." he stepped closer again.

"I..." I felt him getting closer and I couldn't breathe. My mind was screaming yes. "I can't."

We were a team. A confidence team, gaining your trust and ripping you off for every penny we could squeeze out of you. Stealing millions between pickpocketing, elaborate schemes against the rich, and knocking off banks; we made it big. We were good, really good at what we did. This time we were too greedy. We couldn't pass up a 4 million dollar art con. Each couple would have walked away with 2 million dollars and we could have settled down and finally started the family we had talked about for years. But he disappeared......in the middle of the night, abandoning me. Until he returned with a bullet hole in his arm and desperation in his eyes. Begging me to help him one last time, but could I ever forgive him? Could I ever look past his betrayal of leaving me in Tennessee to fend for myself and fight off the cops myself? ●●●●●●●●●●●●●● "What were the first words you ever spoke to me?" He asked softly, his thumbs wiping away the wetness from my cheeks. "No." I choked out. "Don't! I don't want to say it." "You said...Hi, my name is Alexis and I just moved into my grandparent's house across the street. Can I play with you? And I knew the moment I laid eyes on you...." "You were 10 years old, you didn't know shit." I croaked. "I may have been 10, but I knew a beautiful girl when I saw one. And you blew the rest of the world out of the water. I may have saved you by leaving you in Tennessee, but at least you still had your grandparents. I had no one if I didn't have you."

"Look," he said sternly, his green eyes blazing with anger as he looked down at the small woman before him. The dark skin that covered her body made him want to reach out and lose himself completely in her beauty and those dark chocolate eyes weren't helping. He gave a frustrated sigh when she stared up at him with an innocence only she would have. "I don't like this anymore than you do, but for the time being you're going to have to stay with me, just until the chaos dies down." She crossed her perfectly toned arms across her small chest and frowned. "This isn't my fault," she huffed, "You lied to me. I - I didn't know you were famous!" - - - What was meant to be a simple one night stand just to show her friends that she wasn't always a goody two shoes ended up turning her life upside down thanks to a certain rockstar. But who said her life was perfect in the first place? Maybe this was what she needed to figure out who she really was. #18 in Chicklit 08/30/17 (I promise I love you guys) #15 in Chicklit 09/02/17 #14 in Chicklit 09/04/17 #12 in Chicklit 09/14/17 #9 in Chicklit 10/14/17 #5 in Chicklit 10/20/17 #175 in Romance 8/9/18 #130 in Romance 8/10/18 #24 in Romance 12/6/19
