Touch, a means of communication that has long since been taken for granted. Even those without vision or a voice or hearing use it every second of the day like anyone else. 
But Rose had to learn without it one sudden Summer many years ago. Thick gloves kept her separated from everyone she would ever meet.
Now after a particularly delinquent prank at school she was sent away with her younger brother to her uncle John's home over the summer. Should have been a summer of boring work would suddenly take a turn as a series of ships landed on the center of the island.
