Tom knew he was loosing the battle against the 'light'. He knew that if he lost the war, the world will plunge into chaos because of Dumbledore. He, and his allies needed help. They needed someone to go into Hogwarts and make people realise the truth. He wanted his son to know the truth. But how?
A rumor he heard a long time ago from a traveling merchant wizard came into his mind, "Find Salazar Slytherin's castle and seek the coffin. A wizard sleeps in the castle only to wake when a person opens her coffin and is in need of help. The wizard knows everything, the wizards watches the whole world through her minds eye. If the wizard deems you worthy, then the wizard will help you win."
