Princess Alina Everhart has been raised to believe in duty above all else. As the only heir to the Everhart kingdom, she has spent her entire life preparing to marry the powerful and enigmatic King Darius of Ravka, a man twice her age, to unite their lands and end decades of war. But on her journey to the Ravkan capital, everything changes when she meets her royal guard, Cassian Vale. Cassian is everything King Darius is not-fierce but kind, protective yet wild. He treats Alina as more than just a pawn in a political game, and against all reason, she finds herself drawn to him. As they travel through dangerous lands filled with rebel ambushes and magical threats, Alina and Cassian grow closer, bound by whispered confessions and stolen moments. But love is a dangerous game, especially when King Darius is known for his cruelty. As Alina arrives at the Ravkan court, she discovers that her marriage is more than just a political alliance-it is a trap woven with secrets, magic, and betrayal. Torn between duty and love, Alina must decide whether to follow the path laid out for her or risk everything for the man who stole her heart. When dark forces threaten the throne, Alina learns the truth: her marriage was never meant to save her kingdom. It was meant to destroy it.
