This is the first chapter of something I've been working on, I would really love your opinion

You've had a difficult time recently; it's understandable you feel the need to protect yourself

I've read the papers
Good for you, I'm glad you learnt to read at such a young age
You were raped
So are thousands of men and women each year
You were kidnapped
I was rescued
You were stabbed, you nearly died
I survived
You aren't surviving
I know, I'm barely breathing.
Because sometimes a simple minute can change a situation, change a person, change a life.
Because sometimes there is bad people that do bad things
Because sometimes innocent people get hurt, they get in the way
Because sometimes the innocent become the victim and no matter what they do they can never break free

My trial in court was going on and all the evidence pointed toward my crimes. It was a really pointless proceeding. Everyone knew I had committed those sins against the nation. There are a lot of things you don't really think about until they happen to you. Take rape, for instance. I always thought, "That won't happen to me. I have a boyfriend. I trust him. He would never take advantage of me like that..." I couldn't have been more wrong. Love in this day and age is often confused for manipulation and abuse. The warning signs are here. The things we say will tell us everything that is wrong. You are worth more than what you think you are. It's not your fault. If they tell you otherwise, get out. Burn the bridge.
