Clove Kentwell is supposed to be dead. That is, she thought so until she wakes up in a Capital hospital seemingly unscathed. When she discovers Cato's there as well, along with the other dead tributes, a strange story begins to unravel at her feet. Why would President Snow keep them alive? Why is Cato acting so strangely? For the 72nd Hunger Games, the Mayor of District Two decides to change the selection of tributes to volunteer for the Games. A normal girl that went to the Academy to train to be a tribute like the rest of the kids of the District, but she was different. The only people who seem to see it are the Trainers of the Academy, her family, and of course the Victor of the 71st Hunger Games, Cato Hadley. And this seems to cause problems for her that she can't begin to comprehend, as she carries on with her life. But when the 72nd Hunger Games starts, Ash doesn't realize she will have to show her true nature in order for her to defeat the other 23 tributes. But is her talent and skills enough to get her through the games? Or will it fall short and put her with the other 23 tributes who didn't survive?
