Nqobilé Yoon’s life is far from the average 17 year old girl. By being a quite introverted soul has meant that socialising and general engagement with the rest of the population has been close to none. She can go for months without speaking in public but prefers to stand at arm’s length and spectate at the events happening around her. By standing and watching she has gotten to know a lot about the world and how it functions. Writing is her passion. It allows her to express her feelings and lets her just imagine what it is like to have somebody there for her. Living in Oldcity, one of the county’s most notorious gang and gun crime areas, has given her one of the most interesting upbringings. From witnessing her mum being beaten to death to her being held hostage by one of school mates, life for Nqobilé has been more than just a rough ride. As she is approaching adulthood she must make the one hardest decision in her life, whether or not to speak out to and tell people what she is seeing but with so many threats will she find it in her to do so.
