When ten-year-old Alex wakes up alone in an abandoned hospital, she has no idea what happened to the world-or whether her brothers, Daryl and Merle Dixon, are still alive.

What starts as a desperate search for family quickly becomes a fight for survival as the dead begin to walk, cities fall, and every place that promises safety turns out to be temporary.
