This is my version of what could have happened in the depths of Ba Sing Se if Zuko had chosen to defect. I really don't know why there aren't more like this, it seems like one of the ultimate Zutara moments.

Avatar: the Last Airbender Fanfiction Zuko x OC Makki is the twin sister of Sokka and the older sister of Katara. She is one of the last Southern water benders, along with her sister. At the age of ten, she lost her mother in a Fire Nation raid, right at the South Pole; all she has left is her mother's necklace, which Katara wears around her neck. After that, her father left to fight in the Hundred Year War, along with all the other grown warriors, and Makki and her siblings were put under the care of their Gran Gran. She grew up practicing her bending and helping Katara with all the chores, while their brother practiced his fighting skills and tried teaching the younger boys of their village. Makki's siblings followed their destiny of helping Aang master all four elements while Makki was stuck on a path with the Fire Nation Prince Zuko and his uncle Iroh. The three of them would cross paths with Aang, Katara, and Sokka, but Makki would always have trouble reuniting with her siblings, so she would try her best to show Zuko the right path. Learning to trust-A Zutara Story
Katara spend a great amounts of time hating Zuko after his betrayal under the crystal catacombs of Ba Sing Se. She had trusted him and he had betrayed her. When he joins Aang and starts teaching him fire bending her emotions get complicated and she is soon torn between her hatred towards the fire nation and her strange attraction to the Prince of said nation. Zuko infuriates her, annoys her , he is a constant reminder of Aang almost dying yet she finds herself trusting him again and slowly loving him. ~*~*~*~ The story is currently under Edit because it has been two years since I completed it and my English and writing ability have improved since then. I just need to fix it and make it perfect!Complete

If I could officially write a canon story that would allow Zukka to happen it would be this one and it takes place right after the comics. The New Ozai Society has once again been reformed but this time by a new familiar leader. During the Fire Festival Fire Lord Zuko hosts one of Team Avatar's members gets kidnapped. The rest of Team Avatar goes on a journey to save them. During their journey Katara unlocks a new terrifying ability in a life threatening fight, which completely reveals the hidden secrets exposed in Legend of Korra. Meanwhile on the journey Zuko and Sokka grow so close, unclear by what they might discover forced to look into themselves and find a brand new meaning of what love truly is. Once everyone thinks the journey is over something way worse occurs which may result in another World War. The positive and horrendous things discovered by Team Avatar will shape the future of not just the Fire Nation, but the whole world.
