BOOK ONE OF THE WILLOW FOREST ELEMENTISTS SAGA

Sasha used to think her life was abnormal enough.  She lived on the streets.  She'd got out of nine care homes.  Then, she discovers she's an Elementist: she has the ability to control one of the seven mythical Elements, and before she knows it she unintentionally explodes a warehouse, gets taken to a forest full of really random wildlife by three thirteen-year-olds with a helicopter and has to find this old necklace thing, which makes her old life suddenly look tame.

And the absolute strange-ness is only just beginning.
