Armed with magic and a gun, Nicole Hallian works as an investigator in the Supernatural Investigations Bureau (SIB) branch office located in the town of Callahan's Morrow. She likes her job, but not these days when mysterious abductions make the front pages in the newspaper. People are scared and SIB is getting nowhere with the investigation.

Just as everything seems black, a prominent supernatural figure, Giuseppe Viola, arrives back in the town. Nicole unsuccessfully tries to extract some information from him; a vampire as old as him is a tough nut to crack.

But not everything is as it seems to be: Nicole's boss, Adrian Crawshaw, has a few skeletons in his closet - and those come to bite him in the ass. He would love nothing more than everyone staying unaware of his connection to Giuseppe, no matter how much easier life could be if he made peace with the past.

As a dead body thumps to the ground in front of the investigation team, members of the SIB office branch form a tentative partnership with Giuseppe to get to the bottom of this unresolved case.

(This story does occur in the True Silk universe, but it is a few hundred years in the making.) He doesn't blink, still. She kisses her teeth, folds her arms and walks away. "Fine, you wanna stay down here? You can." "Come on, man." I turn around again. "This really isn't funny -" A tall, pencil-thin figure looms behind him. Its white skin is translucent and papery and its fine, greasy black hair has been formed into matter locks. Its neck, which is slightly too long for humans, is stretched like a turtle's while its shoulders are pitted down and and hunched. If it were possible, Grants eyes go even blanker, as if the life had just left his body. It's a few seconds before his body collapses to his knees and then laggingly onto his face. The creature's slender, skeletal fingers drip with his blood, in its hand, a fresh, still desperately beating heart. Grant's heart. * Julien would be your run of the mill bad girl; smart mouth, always picking fights, doesn't take anyone's crap bad girl. She would be...if only it weren't for the fact that she is an out-of-the-ordinary vampire. That much is made very clear when she and some friends go poking around the forbidden catacombs outside of their home city. They accidentally find something ancient and murderous lying beneath its surface with ties to old, dangerous magic kept locked away for good reasons. And now he has ties to her. 61 parts Complete Mature

Usually when people die they are courteous enough to stay dead. As it turns out, several people associated with Lucius are lacking in the etiquette department, and when corpses start disappearing from graves it's just no laughing matter anymore. Reunited with more than one friend from his past, Lucius finds himself with more questions for every answer he receives. In his defense, undead vampires and secret, werewolf related orders will do that to you, and yet he is nowhere near figuring out what the Waste is going on beneath the surface of South Kerilia's population. He knows one thing for certain though: One organization holds the answers to all of his questions, and he knows just the person to interrogate. If only that person hadn't been Lucius' newly resurrected numbskull of a crush.
