Ruby Barnes is that of a mystery to ordinary Will Cooper.

Her alcoholic father is falling deeper and deeper into a whirlwind of gambling and booze, sweeping next-door neighbor Graham into the mix. All the meanwhile, she's balancing her shifts at work, the curriculum at a strict Catholic preparatory and keeping more secrets then she bargained for when it comes to her social life.
A misty day with menacing grey clouds hovering above brings two individuals into each other's lives. As a result, they'll find themselves in one another and, just maybe, something more?
