AAL

Demographic developments are leading to a greater need for products and services specially adapted to the needs of elderly people. In the European AAL, funding program supports research into innovative and marketable technological solutions which allow older people to maintain the standard of living they are used to and continue living independently in their own homes for as long as possible. An important feature of AAL projects is the short time it takes for a product or service to appear on the market; this usually takes just two or three years following project completion. Ambient assisted living is a joint program with the EU and is based on Article 185 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union.
