"Every good rhyme starts with once upon a time!"
"Long ago, far away, centuries before our day" "Lemurians lived , humans roamed."
"Both shared earth and sea as home."
"Yet this peace came undone, war was waged and humans won."
"Forced below, Lemurians fell, humans trapped them with a spell."
"Listen children to my words, the Aussie will eat you beware the curse!"
"Lemurian teeth go clack clack clack"
"If you climb the red rock you won't come back"
"Human girl, human girl won't turn around, human girl, human girl oh no they fell down!"
"Human girl, look out below! Down underground the lemurians go."
"Oops dropped your heart, be careful in the dark, somebody might take it and break you apart, trouble on the left, trouble on the right. Will they spare you, run, or fight?"

It was and still is a very popular rhyme in Havenmoor. One that Eve archer knew well. A rhyme that prompted the question of the reality of lemuria. Was it real? Does it still exist? I guess you will have to read to find out!

"I just... stole an apple!" ---- When water is controlled by those in power, even a mere apple can be a catalyst. For Squinty, it was the start of everything. Finding Grizzly. Losing Roko. Becoming a Vigil. Discovering she had the power to become invisible. For Nalina, the threat of a new Water War was even closer to home; her beloved brother was the one initiating it. To Drian, water formed the core of his belief system, defined who was - and was not - worthy, and justified the treatment of the underground-dwelling Wellers. An orphan girl, determined to do what was right. A princess, petitioning for peace. An abbot, torn between his religion, and his experience. The Fanalis were a well-known people; the famed hunters and conquerors of the Dark Continent. With legs stronger than steel that could pierce a lion's heart with a single kick, they were a race to be feared. But also on the same land lived a dwindling race of people who were even more ferocious than the Fanalis. Rumored to fight like real monsters by ripping throats with sharp fangs, slicing to shreds with claws like daggers, and wielding the elements like gods in human form, this legendary race was believe to be naught but myth. The Drakonis. With their name akin to the mighty beasts of wing and scale, they fought with an unparalleled ferocity eagerly sought for by armies and empires. They were a deeply religious and strict society with laws that prevented outsiders from mingling to keep their bloodlines pure. As such their numbers began to dwindle and, with the ever growing demand for Drakonis and Fatalis slaves, their species became endangered. They could not be bred to produce more because each Drakonis can only choose one mate and can only have children with that one mate for the rest of their lives. If one mate was to die, then the other would feel like they had lost half their soul, but gaining a mate unlocks a Drakonis' full potential so not choosing a mate is like a bird never learning to fly. Purposeless. With their people hunted and lands razed, the mighty Drakonis faded into legend and their truths became gossip and the gossip became bedtime stories for children who wonder about adventure and travel. But there was one who hid her true identity, one who played human but always remembered her pride and home from whence she came. She took it upon herself to rebuild an empire for her people; one where they would not be threatened with extinction and isolation. But that's quite the tall order for a twelve year old girl, don't you think? She may just need a little help from our favorite miracle child. What do ya say? I only own Raz / my plot changes

Feet Aren't Made for Walking [BEING PUBLISHED!] #OnceUponNow

5 parts Complete

One of the winners of the Once Upon Now contest! Feet Aren't Made for Walking will be renamed Truth Be Told and will be published by Gallery Books, an imprint of Simon and Schuster, on October 11, 2016 in the Once Upon Now Anthology! ---------------------------- Leo Clark is having a really bad day. He's been transported into a topsy-turvy alternate universe (not a good thing when your mom's expecting you home for dinner), he's recently acquired wooden extremities and is physically incapable of telling a lie (an even worse thing when you pride yourself on not sharing your emotions), and his little sister has been kidnapped, mistaken for the lost princess of the Land of Pittsborough (the worst thing of all because...please refer back to the part about Mom making dinner). In order to save his sister and find a way home, Leo will have to confront an evil queen who lives in an office cubicle, a few mice with horrible fashion sense, and a girl with green skin and webbed toes (but hey, at least she's kind of cute). And he'll have to do it all before the clock strikes midnight or risk being trapped in Pittsborough forever. Now if only he could figure out how to walk on his wooden feet... --------------------------- This short story is a modern day fairytale mashup, partially inspired by Pinocchio, The Frog Prince, and many others. Enjoy!
