Rewrite The Story (Naruto Fanfic)

Two clans, both alike and allied together in the hopes of bringing peace to the shinobi world. The two clan leaders, Madara Uchiha and Hikari Karoshi, have been close friends ever since they were young. Both slowly developed feelings for each other, something that their clan elders frowned upon. In the hopes of keeping the two of them under control, Madara and Hikari were betrothed to someone else in their clan. In her rage at this realization, Hikari slaughtered the entire Chinoike clan, losing her sight to one of the members before they died. She didn't let anyone know and planned to remain a shinobi, even at the cost of her family.
What would happen to Hikari and Madara's relationship? Would everything remain the same? Would Madara lead the village? Or will peace forever be unattainable?
"Do you remember what we talked about when we were kids?" he questioned. She nodded with a small smile
"Yes, though I thought those were some pipe dreams that would never come true."
