Tyler Yena believes in fireflies.
Absolutely insane, I know.

But in a world where all insects have been completely eradicated leaving only broken-down ecosystems, sudden surges in series of organisms including highly harmful animals and weeds, and a community of grotesque, traitorous barbarians living in these untamed lands named The Roses, believing in a species of invertebrates could result in a permanent banishment from the Oasis, the only functional civilization in the world, and into the abyss that is The Forest, where no rules prohibit the wandering acts of the insane.

But when Tyler's classmates begin to slowly disappear and he ends up revealing his secret to the son of one of the Head Rangers, Tyler begins to think that maybe those years of training in small areas of The Forest for recess may finally be put to use.

And when he gets chased out, he knows for sure that, out there, he's no longer Tyler Yena.

Now, he is plain old Firefly, and his only hope is to survive.

But the issue is, how will he do that with a four year old girl hooked on his arm and the very son of the higher ups trailing begrudgingly by his side?
