Handling Herbs

Never a dull day around the monstery. Kat has to deal with a missing childhood friend, his roommate, and a suspicious younger student while trying to find the herbs she needs to help one of her animal charges heal.

After the protagonist/main character/hero assignment, Writing Excuses had a writing assignment that asked listeners to tell a main character's story three times: once with an obstacle, once with an antagonist, and once with a villain. I thought it might be interesting to place this story in the Elemental Mage world, building off the first assignment with main character Kat...right up until I realized what the easiest bit of villainy available was. It took me days to write that story.
