A new novel. In his autobiography, Dizzy Gillespie wrote, "To get the best band, go to K-Y. That meant the best band was in Lexington, Kentucky, at the federal narcotics hospital." "Jazz Farm" is fiction, but based on characters at the infamous United States Narcotic Hospital (or Narco Farm). Former "residents" included Chet Baker, William Burroughs and Sonny Rollins. The CIA secretly experimented with LSD on patients there in the 1950s and early 1960s. This story is set in 1965 and is told through the eyes of a fraternity "social chairman" who is captivated by the music and the musicians and finds gigs for them climaxing with a Kentucky Derby-eve concert at the state mental hospital.

I lost someone dear to me in the midst of the Heroin Epidemic hitting MA in the last 3 years that spurred me to write The A Team. It is a reference to Ed Sheeran's song. This story was my grieving process. Without it, I'd be in a maelstrom of emotions that I wouldn't know what to do with. Also, my favorite band, Fall Out Boy, has a physical copy of this story. I gave it to them this past summer at a Meet & Greet in Mansfield, MA for the Boys of Zummer tour. I'd probably bawl my eyes out if I ever hear that they read it, but I don't want to hold out too much hope. They are my second form of coping with anything, and their music gave me the drive to even write the novella. Here's the description: What does it mean to truly learn to love your life again?
