A Simple Act

In an apocalyptic world where the only law is kill or be killed, the only ones you can trust are those in your own group. Your clan is your lifeline.
So what happens when one person breaks that law?
Katherine James, better known as Kat to her clan, is living in a world where she has only five people she can trust to not stab her in the back at any moment. Six inseparable friends, the group's bonds are really the only thing keeping her alive.
But when Kat meets two girls, separated from their clan and with practically nothing, she feels that forbidden emotion: compassion. Betraying her own clan in a simple act of kindness, it is only a matter of time until they find out of her crime. When that happens, she will be an immediate target, mainly to Ray Carrera, who was irreparably broken by another clan and will not tolerate disloyalty to his own group.
Not knowing who she can trust anymore, Kat and her new friends form a forbidden alliance. "Just until we can get back to our clan," the girls say.
But will that really be the case, what with a friendship forming between the three?
