Avant ça, tout se passait bien, les tests allaient de bon train, Orion progressait, maîtrisait de plus en plus ses immenses capacités et communiquait de mieux en mieux avec les scientifiques de la base, alors pourquoi maintenant ? Pourquoi ? Pourquoi ont ils tout gâché ? Pourquoi à ce moment ? A cause d'une simple petite erreur de prévision, à cause de cette minuscule imperfection ? Je ne peux pas le croire...

I wasn't special, I wasn't a marine or a scientist sent here from earth to study Pandora, I was a behaviorist-some say behaviorists are scientists too; but the brain isn't made up of mathematics and hope, it's like the roots of trees. Forever speaking but unheard. I study people's brains and their behavior. I don't look at it with hope and faith. I'm nothing special, not really. When I was accepted to help with Project Pandora, I was exhilarated. This was my big break, something to get me out there. I never expected for it to spiral into my life unprofessionally-become personal, emotional. That I would have to fight in a war between man and alien, choose between my own people and a clan of beings that accepted me-welcomed me, trained and made me one of them. This wasn't supposed to become personal, but it did.

And, if it works, a small percentage of the time, the subjects are let loose, given a certain freedom they had never experienced. And that's what I had now. Freedom. After around ten years of making sure my neural system was intact, the metal surrounding me grew with my body and the batteries didn't poison my immune system, I was given the option of getting out of CARESS, also known as Centre of Adolescents in Rehab after the Effect of Scientific Surgery, and live a normal life. Well, as normal as it could get for a teenage girl with giant metal wings stuck behind her back. ~~~~~~~~ "You remind me of Maleficent... But with blue wings... And definitely more badass." "Who?" " You know, the girl that poisoned Sleeping beauty?" "I repeat. Who?" "We are so watching that. Now." ~~~~~~~~ A novel full of romance, hate, humour and a hint of drama mixing into one great big story of life changing events and thrilling moments. ~~~~~~~~ This is a complete story, except if you are viewing it in the first few months of 2018 due to the fact that I didn't want to post it all at the same time. Testing Pandora de KaiaSonderby

In the far future, genetic engineering is used to strip all sapient species of disability. But when humans have a brief fad of natural birth, disabled children start reappearing. They're quickly termed "Pandoras," the value of their very lives brought into question, and laws are put into place to prevent their births from happening ever again. Xandri Corelel is one of these Pandoras, a young autistic woman scorned by her family and fighting to eke out a living on the streets of Wraith. Then she meets Chui Shan Fung, captain of the first contact and refugee ship Carpathia. Captain Chui has been watching her, and knows about the talent for understanding alien species that Xandri has cultivated. She wants Xandri as part of her crew--but first, Xandri must pass a test to see if she'll even fit in. Wary but hopeful, Xandri joins the Carpathia at Psittaca, a newly-discovered planet peopled by parrot-like sapients. Learning to understand this new species is the easy part compared to trusting her new crew mates. As Xandri continues her diplomatic efforts with the Psittacans, it becomes apparent that the Carpathia's crew aren't the only ones to have discovered the planet, but these other visitors don't have good intentions. In order to protect this beautiful new world, Xandri must find it in herself to overcome years of abuse and neglect, and trust in her new crew.

During the filming of "Star Trek: The Next Generation", there would frequently come times when the story called for the characters (and in the early days, it was often that bane of Trekkies everywhere, Wesley Crusher, the Platonic Ideal of Dork) to fix some far-future technical problem. Which means said characters had to employ far-future tech. Which by definition hasn't been invented yet. What happened over the course of the series was that they engaged a couple of people to be in charge of continuity and technology, and the script writers would insert into the scripts, "[technobabble here]", leaving the staff TechGeek to insert the proper futuristic-sounding tech gibberish. You know: Stuff that sounds realistically scientific, but is really just verbal handwaving. "Tachyon fields"; "Inertial dampers"; and so on. Welcome to my non-fictional, non-Star Trek, highly-idiosyncratic take on tech, tech-related topics, and sometimes random stuff that's just obliquely related to tech that was triggered by me reading or hearing or seeing something that happened to drift through the wide-open transom of my brain and get stuck there. Some of the items you will see here are funny, some I hope are thought-provoking, some could probably be filed under the hashtag of #DougRant, filtered through what my life-partner calls my "weird perspective". If you enjoy reading them, then they will have served their purpose. So read on and, hopefully, enjoy!

Y/N L/N is of the hundreds of residents of the mothership from Earth, the Resolute, and she descends to space with her mother and father after passing a survival test to see if she were eligible to be a part of the best of the best. After a few months of being aboard the Resolute, a mysterious breach sends parts of the crew flying off into an emergency evacuation onto an unknown planet quite similar to Earth, where the remaining of the Resolute try for survival, including Y/N and a close friend of hers. Once they get used to the planet, the crew brainstorms a way to get out while Y/N explores the outdoors. She meets a fellow crew mate, Will Robinson, and embarks in a journey with his family and an alien robot to get back to the mothership. This mysterious alien robot was quite the shocker, and to make it worse, nobody else trusts the robot enough to let it partake in helping to save them all. Y/N L/N and Will Robinson will have to team up to help the alien robot fit in with their community without causing a panic so they can safely get back to their ship.
