When lance was a child he was smart and didn't hide his freckles or glasses but as he grew older he got bullied because of that.
He basically moved schools and pretended he was something he wasn't. Of course nobody knew this except hunk his best friend. (He still is smart to this day but just hides it.)
But of course.....EVERY secret gets out eventually and it's not super easy while you're trying to save the hole universe from furry's.
