The Visaar is a secret institution near the U.S.-Canada border where people come from around the world to study the art of magic (yes, legit magic). In 1720, a stubborn, headstrong teenager named Hannah Rothschild runs away from her Puritan home in search of adventure. A girl with red hair comes to her through a purple portal and tells her she is the first of the four Cosmic Strings and is given a perfume bottle to control time. This spirals a search by the Visaar to find the other three Cosmic Strings.
In 2019, a chill, carefree teenager named Demi Swann attends the Visaar as per her family tradition. She isn't interested in magic until she discovers a bottle of perfume and sprays it. From the mist, she sees a purple circle, and inside the circle a girl whom she was told was the first of the four Cosmic Strings.
The two girls' stories both parallel and interconnect with each other. Each chapter is labeled with the name of the girl narrating it, so you can either alternate between the girls' stories or read one and then the other.All Rights Reserved
