The first thing that caught his eye was a beam of light passing through the centre of the city, or atleast what might be called the centre. Lack of symmetry made it difficult to pinpoint exact locations. The beam shot up from the sky with no start in sight and was at least a few meters wide. It seemed to have been made of pure white light. Occasionally strands of blue ran down like waves through a fast flowing river. The clouds seemed to have parted around it standing completely still instead of moving. It was as if the earth had stopped moving...

I woke to a sudden breeze invading the warmth from the heavy blanket that caressed my skin. Here, alone with my thoughts, the still, calm quiet in the atmosphere is almost painful. I feel suffocated in the clingy, static air. In quiet, still moments like these, I can almost feel Him. I don't know who "Him" is, but I can feel his presence. It's almost calming, especially on fearful, anxiety fueled nights. Usually, he was the strongest when I had a nightmare. The nightmares weren't as common now, but, right after everything happened, I was having them every night. I'd wake up and swear I was drenched in blood, my eyes and lips sticky, my nose filled with the smell of iron and fuel. After everything, that's when Him first came. From there, he just never left. I can usually sense when Him is near. Today, though, his presence is stronger. I can almost feel Him next to me, weighing down the mattress. Some nights, I roll over and imagine how he looks, envision his smile or the sparkle in his eyes. He's never there and I'm left clutching to the thought that he exists, staring into empty air. Tonight, though, I swear I can reach out and touch him. Extending my hand gently, I sweep my hand out into the darkness and meet an inexplicable warmth. A scream rips from my lungs as hands cover my face and two icy blue eyes stare back at me, daring me to speak again. A soft cloth caressed my nose and mouth before I felt myself fade into bed. "Are you coming to bed firefly?" He says to me laying his hands over my waist joining me in looking over the city. "I want to look out for a little longer if that is alright?" I mumble hoping that he heard me anyways, I wasn't ready to walk into that bedroom, and I don't think I ever would be. "Of course, I'll be getting ready for bed, come in whenever you are ready." He says confidently and walks away leaving my waist cold something for which I am grateful. Especially when my mind burns with other more dangerous thoughts. The warmth that forever lingers in the air, never burning the skin, but always reminding about what is around us. I force air into my lungs feeling the unexpected warmth fill me. He stands in the room watching me even though he said he was getting ready for bed. He is worried about me, about me jumping. I have contemplated it I will admit, but he would stop me before I fell even two feet. I was stuck, and no one could save me. Not even myself, my fucking weak self. His presence is demanding no matter where we are, but right now I could sense everything about him, and I try to suppress the unwanted feelings that curl right under my skin. "Firefly? About done?" He calls out and I release my hand from the guard rail not realizing that as I looked at the lights that covered the shining city with the falling fire in the background that my subconscious was thinking about how nice it would be... how relieving it would be... to just fall. True freedom. I take a step back and wrap my hands together turning around to a fully clothed unchanged man and nod once. I could see the fear in his eyes that I would, he knows if he gave me the chance... I wasn't ready for this, but I had to survive. No matter what. Highest Ranks: #17 In Romance #5 in Soulmates

What the fuck do you want?"I asked. "Get dressed we're going out"he says. "Hell nah, I ain't going no where"I say going back to my room. All I want to do is sleep and I won't let anybody stop me. I feel a muscular hand snake around my waist pulling me out of my room. "I can't fall asleep so you can't sleep too!" He says forcefully. "I hate you!" I scream. "No you don't, you adore me" he chuckles "Keep dreaming boy" I wanted him to let go of me, not because I didn't like it but because his touch, was driving me insane. It felt great and I can't afford to fall for him, I mean look at him who wouldn't fall for that handsome face and crazy person but that was problem. I'm not his type. He turned me around and this time I was facing him, our eyes met and I couldn't deny it, it felt great to be in his arms. His eyes lowered and fell on my lips. Before I could even say my name, he kisses me. My eyes widened in shocked but I gave in and wrapped my arms around his neck, closing my eyes. God damn!his lips are soft. It was slow and gentle, his hands moved to my face as he increased the pace. My hands moved to his soft black hair. God! I've always wanted to touch it I let out a moan and he slipped his tongue in making the kiss hotter. It was the best feeling on earth. We both pulled away at the same time, panting. Damon and Scarlet, two different people brought together by fate but separated by life. Will they find each other again and just live with the memories of what that had??
Wild Magic Three: The Shade of the Earth- a M/M fantasy shifter romance by herellwrites
32 parts Complete Mature
*****COMPLETE-- Book three in the Wild Magic Series. Sequel to By the Light of the Moon and The Dark of the Sun, but can be read as a stand-alone. The Shade of the Earth is a M/M, May/December, gay-for-you romance with fated mates, knotting, and a bobcat shifter with a small stature and big spunk.***** Robert has been surrounded by men attracted and romantically involved with other men for most of his life. He accepts his friends, defends them, loves them... but has never really understood them and their attraction to other men. Now, a diminutive bobcat shifter, with all the spunk of his feline counterparts, nameless and without a family or home, has claimed him as his mate, refuses to leave his side, and somehow forces him to see sex and attraction in a whole new light. But just as things are beginning to fall into place for Robert and his Sami, will they have everything ripped away by a dark figure from Robert's past? ************************************************ "I'm confused, Sami. This is... a lot. I've never been attracted to a man. I like women- I don't like men! Please understand, all of this is a lot for me." "I'm not men," the shifter whispered, a single tear dripping across his temple and back into his curly, ragged hair. "I'm your Sami." The words had the breath in my lungs freezing painfully. I stared down into his simple, open face, and had a sudden, near-violent realization. Sami ran on pure, feral instinct. This didn't make him stupid, it didn't make him simple of mind. It made his desires and thought process easy and pure. He wanted me, I was denying him. He couldn't understand any other reason for me to do this other than his own inadequacies. He didn't understand the laws of attraction as humans saw them. He saw only that I was his mate. And I was denying him.
