After being 'rescued' from the Lucians by the empire, Prompto was brought up by the emperor as his own and was destend to be the new ruler of Nifleheim. 

One man who could not stand this was none other than the imperial chancellor himself, Ardyn. He - suspiciously - invited himself to dine with the royals and even brought along a dessert, he claimed to be a Lucian peace offering.

Alas, the day of judgement dawned upon the empire of Nifleheim. The emperor, the man Prompto saw as a true father, had passed that very night, assumingly from poisoning. And so, not only the empire, but also the future emperor's heart was filled with darkness. Could someone save the poor boy's lost soul?
