Slate Andrews lived in Sioux Falls, South Dakota for the first 15 years of her life. A few months before her 16th birthday, she is forced from her home by men in black suits after she watched her parents get murdered. She is kept in a hotel room in a city she has never even heard of, and is guarded by mysterious guards, one of which is named Runt. The only thing she knows is that something big will happen on the day she turns 16. Its a race against time as she tries to uncover the secrets Runt is hiding before her birthday.
