Es handelt sich um das Jahr 1962. Oberschwester Abigail findet sich an der Godladwood katholischen Nervenheilanstalt wieder und fängt an dort zu arbeiten. Sie behandelt die Patienten wie Dreck, aber wer sagt was dagegen, immerhin sind das nur Verrückte. Doch besonderes Interesse entwickelt sie an einem neu eingelieferten Patienten namens Ethan, der angeblich seine Frau getötet hat, die Frau des frischverlobten Ethan Carter wurde gehäutet und auf einem Kreuz aufgenagelt, vor dem Haus gefunden. Daher in letzter Zeit sehr viele Morde, auf die gleiche Art und Weise begannen wurden, schließt man daraus, dass Ethan der Serienmörder Sins Punsiher sei. Er streitet dies ab, aber ihm wird nicht geglaubt.
Die Reporterin Ava will einen Durchbruch schaffen, indem sie einen Bericht darüber schreibt. Doch leider zieht Schwester Abigail ihr einen Strich durch die Rechnung und liefert Ava, aufgrund ihrer lesbischen Vorzüge auch ein.
Es verschwinden immer mehr Patienten aus der Anstalt und der erste Verdacht von der Oberschwester fällt auf den Arzt, Herr Steiner.
Wird Abigail ihren Verdacht bestätigen, wird Ethan geglaubt werden und wird Ava das überleben

She never knew her biological father, and her mother, Lauren Volkov, abandoned her when she was young as well; nine, to be exact. She was born with a rare form of Congenital Insensitivity to Pain and was unable to feel physical pain, so she never complained about something as simple as a paper cut or a stubbed toe since her brain didn't register it. She was diagnosed with anxiety and bipolar I disorder around that time as well and that's when her life was going 'downhill'. Over the years, she was also diagnosed with parasomnia, ADHD, paranoid personality disorder, and acute stress disorder. Needless to say she had more prescriptions than she chose to mention to anyone except for the people that already knew, and even then, she didn't talk about her mental illnesses, which her friends understood and complied with. After her mother left her, Katherine and George Walter took her in, having basically watched her grow up since Katherine and Lauren had known each other for as long as anyone remembered...until she up and left her only daughter behind that is. Nicolette moved in with them when she was nine and was practically raised alongside the Walter kids, as well as the Garcia boys when they moved in as well. She'd managed to get her life, and her mental illnesses, in order just when things in her life changed once more.
