You hear about horrible things happening to people on the news all the time; a woman was stabbed, a child was kidnapped, there was a school shooting. But you never think it'll happen to you, you rationalize the fear that you feel "Oh that's across the country, that wouldn't happen here" "That won't be me, I'm just a normal person". But that's the thing everyone is a normal person until they're not. And I definitely never thought I'd stop being normal. But that all changed in the matter of seconds, one second I was walking through the quad of the college I attend and the next thing I know my life is in chaos. I was a normal girl, this shouldn't of happened to me, but it did. And in that moment I knew that if I survived my life would never be the same.
