The year is 2031. The world has spun into a downward spiral after a virus was introduced into the population due to a failed experiment on January 5th, 2016 in the state of Virginia. Doctor Paul Burkley created two more viruses that were later released in 2017-2018. Thirteen years later a victim who had years before escaped from Burkley's labs has teamed up with the Navy and are in pursuit of their last hope, the cure to the disease of "dead man walking".

The year is 2047. It's been almost 35 years since the U.S. went over the Fiscal Cliff, indirectly leading to the world's first encounter with the undead. It's been roughly ten years since the spread of the infection was suppressed, thanks to the help of outside powers.
