When Penelope Fuller's grandmother passes away, she doesn't expect much. She was always cold, distant and unloving. However, her perception of her grandmother is put to the test when she is left a box of seemingly insignificant objects, a blistering journal and a tattered letter. Unknowingly, Penelope holds the missing pieces to a story, her grandmother's story.
Soon her curiosity gets the best of her, and she sets off on a mission to better understand her family roots. What she doesn't expect is to learn something about herself when she meets a stranger who makes her question everything. Perhaps her and her grandmother aren't so different after all.
