The year is 2079 and humanity has achieved a pseudo golden age of technology, the most prominent new innovations being cybernetic enhancements and prosthetic as well. High tech cities spanning the globe with the governments now practically run by the corporations who helped to provide humanity with the advancements which were almost practically a household name, having bought out several political candidates and using their resources to ensure their hold over them.

Though this future is far from peaceful. In the cities there are the scavengers, those less fortunate than the upper class who resort to brash tactics to try and break the corporations corrupt hold on the new society we have all come to know. However as a result they are simply branded by the corporations as nothing more than a gaggle of criminals and terrorists who are lower than low, wallowing in the dirt and only ever wanting to bring the higher class down a notch. Though not everyone's opinions are those derived from the propaganda campaigns which provide such a slandered image of these noble men and women attempting to bring back a just society free of the corrupt and tyrannical corporate rule.

Both Carmesí and Mabel are far more well informed than that. Though they do not realize that despite their close friendship they will be divided like never before in such a powerful and influential fight that could decisively bring about the end of the golden age.
