A girl wakes up in the forest on a bed of black roses, with a stab wound in her chest and no memory of who she is or how she got there. A strange old woman who might be a witch tells the girl her body was dead, but now she lives again. The girl decides to call herself Riddle until she can remember her real name. Riddle sets off through the forest, alone and unsure where to go, as the roses she woke up on wither and die behind her...
