In a post-dystopian world ravaged by war, Claire and her younger brother Charlie live in one of the last remaining Northern American cities: Horizon, a place where the past is stifled and pills are used to control mental and physical defects. 

When a small rebellion deemed these pills and the government as a whole overly controlling, they staged an uprising and gained control, none of them possessing any knowledge on how to run a city. The result is anarchy, starvation, and death. Claire and Charlie live with their friend, Nik, in a small, teenage-populated community aptly named Rooftop for its location, and every day is a fight for survival. When Claire learns of an illegal lottery through which she and her brother could escape Horizon, however, she leaps at the chance and begins risking everything she has built for herself and her family to get to freedom.All Rights Reserved
