The politics surrounding dragons are complicated and when Atticus finds two that have bonded to a human, he has to consider the safety of the forest he was bound to protect first.

In the simplest terms of a herbarium is a collection of things, herbs to be exact. Atticus mostly just liked the word. There was something enjoyable about the way it rolled off the tongue. The creatures in the forest he cared for were far from something for him to collect, but he was often gifted with things: a branch from the ancient tree outside his house, a silver leaf from the forest nymph frozen in time, a pale scale from the mer in the lake, a vivid blue feather from the phoenix, a fang necklace from the wolf-child were only part of his collection.

He, a double spy, a man as complex as the magic that surrounds him. A Master of Potions and of Dark Arts, and a prisoner of his own past. In the dimly-lit dungeons of Hogwarts, where shadows dance & secrets whisper, stands a man charged with taming the beast hiding within her. His orders, clear. His path, one of no return. And she's the final key to it all. In a world where betrayal & sacrifice twist and turn, a dark tale of deception and desire unfolds under the looming clouds of the wizarding war. The line between friend and foe blurs as a choice must be made. One that will mean the difference between life and death, as the simmering cauldron of forbidden love with its shimmering fumes bewitches the minds, ensnares the senses, teaching them how to bottle pain, brew longing, and even how to put a stopper in death. But in the darkest of times, if anything is possible, then everything is at stake. ✨Word count: 226,854✨ ❗Tags/TWs:❗ Slow Burn, Angst, Age Difference, Hurt/Comfort, Violence, Blood, Death, Past Abuse, Dark, Dark Past, Past Violence, Gentle for SO, Sexual Content, Explicit Sexual Content, Possessive/Protective SO

The Last Dragon

21 parts Complete

Growing up as an apprentice healer in the castle, Ilia loved listening to the stories the knight-mages told. Tales of valour and glory, adventures in the wilderness, things she'd never see while she's trapped behind the stone walls. When knights show up with wounds from battle, and Ilia has new visions and nightmares, her powers flare wildly. What's happening to her? Dragons are rare. When word reaches the castle that a dragon was slaughtered, her life is changed forever. Ilia feels something pulling at her inside. She must help. What can a mere student do when the best Knight-mages are already out there, seeking the last dragons to protect them? With her powers acting up, can she trust what she feels? With nothing more than feelings to go on, Ilia leaves the safety of the castle, the only place she's ever known. Can she find and protect dragons before it's too late? Are her powers tied to the dragons somehow? If so, what happens if the last dragon dies? Will she die, too?
