He grabbed my chin and forced me to look in to his eyes. 

"You will marry me and I shall become the King," he growled at me. 

Did he really think that I would ever agree to that?

"No! I would rather die!" I spat at him. 

His eyes raged with anger. He suddenly threw me against the wall and yanked out his knife, putting its edge near my throat. 

"If you would rather die, then I can make that happen."

I could feel the breath of the sharp blade on my throat. I gulped. I had said I would rather die, but the thought seems terrifying. I didn't really mean it. 

I wasn't going to marry him though. That is almost as terrifying as being killed. 

But, I figured if he were to become king then he couldn't kill me. He wouldn't kill me. 

It was a risk that I would be willing to take. 

"Do it."

But I had to. I had to go. I couldn't let him be hurt because of me. He would live on now, and I would marry another. I had leased my last bit of passion in that one moment in his arms, and as I made my way through the dark streets, I felt myself become dull and lost like the creatures bound in the menagerie. **Much of this was written when I was younger and then I came back later and finished it. There will likely be mistakes. Lots of them.
