Bernadette Martin was an 18 year old woman who was shot while she slept in Northern Ireland. She was from a Roman Catholic family, and was seeing a protestant man. Bernadette was the very definition of an innocent victim, having never even asked her father whether the I.R.A. was Catholic or Protestant. This poem is an ode to her innocence, and the bravery of her family.
