Lela has a problem. Sometimes, when she gets emotional, she blacks out. That's not the problem, though. The problem is that every time it happens, she finds herself somewhere else (somewhere dangerous), with no memory of how she got there. Alex is just taking the less-crowded way home when he barely manages to save some idiot from being splattered by the subway train. He kind of regrets making that decision.
