Amber's best friend Ellie gets news that her dads British girlfriend and his two sons will be moving to America very soon, and having met the youngest son already, it excites her to finally have two siblings of her own. She invites Amber to the party her father has organised the following weekend that they are set to move in, to introduce his girlfriend to his family and friends.
Ellie mentions that she hasn't heard much from her older step brother and he has been out exploring his new surroundings most of the time, and his mother has made him promise to attend the whole party.
When he arrives, Amber's life is turned upside down from then on.
