In the lands of Talia there exists a many a nation spread diversely across the horizons. It wasn’t always that way though. Tale tells of a time when there were only two such nations: Ceclarin and Azure. Those of Ceclarin were said to be light wielders and those of Azure, darkness. Ever since they crossed territories with one another, they’ve been sworn enemies. The respective leaders of both nations have been known for their ruthless ways, intolerant of the existence of the other. The origin of the present districts broke out during a gruesome war, recorded as the Ancient War, between the Dark and Light nation. Hundreds had died and thousands remained scarred. Stubborn patriots vowed vengeance on the lost lives. After the Ancient War, the latter of the two nations began coming together, founding multiple new nations with newly formed alliances and grudges. Those who feared the two nations’ everlasting enmity joined the latter and became former members of the new nations. As time passed, the other nations grew vast. Some borders broke, while others strengthened. Day to day quarrels was standard. The enmity between the survivors of the Ancient War gradually seemed to die down. People began pondering over the possible fantasy where their hatred for one another had dissolved. But these were mere illusions. Given the two nations’ history, harmony is far off; let alone tolerance… Or is it? Young Sefia is Azure’s current heiress and future queen. During a sudden uprising, she was forced to leave her home, and struggled to survive beyond Azure’s borders, possessing a secret known only to few. She journeys forth, meeting new companions and childhood comrades, facing harsh endeavors. Now she strives to return home and restore her domain.

Victoria is given by her father, the King of the Barren Lands, to the Vampire Duke Sadisman as a hostage. She is a gift from her people as a peace offering. As part of the bargain, Duke has promised, "She will not be sired, she will not be fed upon, she will not be tasted, her skin will remain unbroken, and her chastity unchallenged by those under my domain." Victoria's life as the only human guest in the vampire's Black Keep, which humans call the 'Cradle of Filth,' isn't as simple as she hopes. The Duke is a cruel, dangerous man, as lethal as he is strong, and as troubled as he is scalding hot. A man comfortable with breaking a promise if it suits him but smart enough not to lightly restart a bitter war that weakens his coven. He is also the master of an ancient, powerful vampire coven. In it, Victoria must find a way to survive in a nest of remorseless plotters and schemers. Over time, Victoria withstands Sadismann's punishments and learns a grudging respect for him. She makes friends with some of the human familiars, and with them, she must uncover the truth. Is The Duke unraveling the centuries of pain and learning to feel something he has not felt before? Or is this another plot within a plot? While she knows the vampire treachery, Victoria begins to feel emotions she is scared of. Can she survive her year as a hostage to the vampire overlord? Can the vampire overlord survive a year without breaking his vows? Book #1 of the Crimson Crown series. Currently Editing and in Revision, upgraded chapters weekly.
